NEWS: ASAP project joined the 50th anniversary of the RAMOGE Agreement as observer
The ASAP project took part as an official observer to a large anti-pollution exercise held in Monaco on 25–26 June 2026, organised to mark fifty years of the RAMOGE Agreement. Authorities and experts from France, Italy and the Principality of Monaco gathered for the occasion, showing the results of five decades of cooperation across borders to prevent and respond to accidental pollution at sea in the Mediterranean. A number of ASAP partners from Croatia, Slovenia and Italy also took part, following an invitation from the RAMOGE Secretariat — a further sign of the project’s commitment to closer regional cooperation for the Adriatic Sea.
On 25 June, we attended the public session “United Prosecutors for the Mediterranean” at the Palace of Justice in Monaco, where prosecutors from France, Italy and Monaco discussed judicial cooperation on marine pollution, highlighting how essential legal coordination is for protecting the Mediterranean’s coastal and marine environment. The following day, 26 June, we took part as observers in the large-scale anti-pollution exercise organised for the anniversary. From aboard the Castalia vessel Nos Taurus, project partners observed the coordinated deployment of vessels, aircraft and specialised response equipment by the Italian, French and Monegasque authorities — a valuable opportunity to gain first-hand insight into one of the most established regional mechanisms for marine environmental protection and emergency preparedness.
The lessons learned during the RAMOGE anniversary exercise will contribute to our ongoing activities aimed at developing common operational procedures, improving cross-border cooperation and strengthening regional response capacities. They will also provide valuable input for our next joint exercise, scheduled for 23–24 September 2026.
